Once a tiny storefront slice shop, this place got so popular they had to expand to THREE times its original size! Thick and Chunky, spiced to perfection with herbs galore, this sauce adds a bang to tang! But we can all agree, a pizza can’t slide on sauce alone: slightly flaky and lightly browned, this place gives new meaning to deep dish with an explosion of mozzarella cheese melted into the crust with every bite. WARNING: resistance is futile! Hours: Mon-Sun 11am-9pm

Rated as the Travel Channel’s TOP 10 pizza place in the United States, this cozy Lincoln Park favorite has been churning out their own interpretation of pizza – the pizza potpie – since 1972. Baked in a bowl with cheese on the bottom, toppings in the middle, and crust on top, the pie is flipped cheese-side up by your server. The sauce is spiced with juicy Italian sausage, garlic, green peppers, plum tomatoes, and golf ball sized fresh mushrooms. Now imagine the sauce encumbered with a blend of melted Italian cheese. Once you’ve devoured the individual size-half pound baby, it’s guaranteed your jeans will need to be a bit snug! Hours: Mon-Thu 4pm-11pm; Fri 4pm-12am; Sat 12pm-12am; Sun 12pm-11pm

This storefront pizzeria has been a neighborhood favorite for years. Run by two cousins who hail from the heart of Rome, their crust has a slight sourdough flavor and is a quarter-inch thick rolled onto 32-inch pan before prebaking. The homemade marinara sauce keeps the crust moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Then they go crazy by adding up to 20 of your favorite fresh toppings then baking the pizza one more time. The pizza is cranked out in 15 minutes, piping hot and delicious. This place was rated one of the best blue-collar joints in Chicago so there’re no pretension, just good pie! Hours: Mon-Thu 11am-1am; Fri-Sat 11am-4am; Sun 12pm-1am

Chicago is a town full of deep-dish pizza places, but Piece specializes in (gasp!) thin crust pies. Its New Haven-style, dontcha know. On Sundays you can get a large pie and a Growler for twenty-five bucks. We like the red style, but you can also get plain or white pizza.

Two days later and I think I’m still full and satisfied. This Chicago style pizza place sports an inch thick pie, coupled with a delicious bloody mary or Goose Island beer, brewed in Chicago, can put even the best restaurant connoisseurs into a “food coma.” Open Mon-Thu 4pm-2am; Sat 11am-2am

Ah, the famous Giordano’s, a familiar name to pizza lovers around the nation. Available in almost every neighborhood of Chicago their success is a family affair. In fact the owners, the Boglio brothers, adopted their pizza recipe from their mother who adopted it from her mother…you get the idea. So, it’s a recipe about 200 years in the making, and still evolving. The flaky crust (with a yummy butter flavor) can either cure your craving with either the thin or stuffed variety. They’ve been voted #1 Pizza in the world and deliver their prize-winning pizza nationwide. Mulitple locations throughout Chicago. Hours: Mon-Thu,Sun 11am-11pm; Fri-Sat 11am-12am
