Located in Lincoln Park, this artfully decorated Mexican spot is known for its regional Mexican cooking, astounding guacamole (prepared tableside), killer margaritas, and beautiful presentation, you will feel like a child on their birthday and you will also be treated like one! Do not miss out on the extensive list of tequilas – over 90 to choose from. Filled with young professionals who are on their way to Piper’s Alley or Second City, it’s always hopping but if the action is too much you can try their other location in Wicker Park. The food’s just as good there! Hours of Operation: Mon-Thu 5:30pm-10pm; Fri 5:30pm-11:30pm; Sat 2:30pm-11:30pm; Sun 2:30pm-9:30pm.

This contemporary, upscale taqueria, located in the West Loop, has taken the term made-from-scratch to a new level since the name De Cero actually means ‘from scratch’. That explains the fresh and completely original tastes. The décor (particularly the blue floors) will give you a beachside feeling, and when you actually dive into the lip-smacking braised duck tacos or the sautéed salmon tacos topped with cilantro and a sweet corn salsa, you just might start speaking Spanish. Open for lunch at 11:30a.m – 2:00 p.m Mon-Fri Open for dinner at 5:00p.m – 10:00 p.m Sun-Th., 5:00 p.m – 11:00 p.m Fri-Sat.

Even though this upscale Mexican restaurant is located in Old Town, there is nothing old about it! With its wild, modern décor (blue and yellow walls, balanced by the pink tablecloths) and fresh ingredients the interior is as colorful as its food. We recommend the Tostaditas de Tinga, a dish of small, crispy tortillas with mountains of shredded pork and chorizo, topped with a roasted tomato-chipotle sauce, Mexican crema, and avocado. As a main course, we highly recommend the Grilled Pork Tenderloin. This restaurant is not for the weak hearted though—only those ready to have a true Mexican meal. To make things more exciting, have a shot of crisp, authentic tequila with the owner and tell them Sneaky Sunday sent ya! Hours of Operation: Sun 11am-10pm; Mon-Thu 5pm-10pm; Fri-Sat 5pm-11pm.

Searching for good Mexican food in downtown Chicago just got a whole lot easier thanks to Zocalo. You will be impressed with the carefully prepared meats, variety of dishes, extensive tequila list, and even the design and layout of the place. It will take you several visits to make it through the entire margarita selection which you will happily do. Hours: Mon-Thu 5pm-11pm, Fri-Sat 5pm-1am, Sun 5pm-10pm

Looking for traditional Mexican food together with a sophisticated, somewhat wild atmosphere? This Mexican mama serves up fresh margaritas, awide variety of mole sauces made by the ‘master of moles’ Geno Bahena, a menu of multifarious flavors, and they do it all with organic ingredients! Our dinner suggestion is the Borrego en Mole Negro, a New Zealand rack of lamb served with Oaxacan mole. Its meals are worth the wait, the service can be slow when the seats are full.
