All good things merge at this must-visit right off the Chicago River. The design is striking and extremely comfortable and the food is world-class. Famous sushi chef Jun Ichikawa works his magic with some of the freshest ingredients around. The Spicy Mono, spicy octopus roll topped with unagi sauce, was a standout, but everything is artful and delicious. Also, there are plenty of other options for you non-sushianados. There are tons of little nooks to chill and have a conversation with friend. Spend some time in the super-chic lounge.

Anteprima is all about traditional rustic Italian home-style cooking, using only the freshest ingredients they can find. Grab a seat in their luxurious outdoor café and order up one of the best desserts in the city, panna cotta. Literally meaning ‘cooked cream’ this Italian classic is difficult to perfect but Anteprima has done so impeccably. A smooth blend of rich, heavy cream tantalizes the pallet while the decadent taste of vanilla dances on the taste buds leaving you wanting more. The menu at this Andersonville bar boasts a large selection of beer, wine and gourmet appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. There is only one thing missing from the menu: dessert. Ask your server about the Hopleaf’s apple fritters, one of the tastiest treats available at this top-notch establishment. These chewy fried delights are made with a sweet batter that highlights the warm flesh of the Granny Smith apples that makes them completely addictive. Hours of Operation: Sun-Thur 5pm-11pm; Fri-Sat 5pm-12am.

You’ve seen one Tea and Chocolate room; you’ve seen ‘em all! Not true. There is one that stands out from the rest and Sneaky found it hidden in the back of the Unique So Chique boutique! Yes, The Drake has a tea room, too. BUT The Drake does offer Robert Emery Chocolates - the most sought after cocoa delights by Chicagoans “in the know” (a.k.a. your friends at Sneaky). Robert and his chefs are continually exploring new toffee and truffle creations to add to the list of more than 36 flavors. If the truffles don’t tussle your feathers, how about toffee that simply melts in your mouth? Or some warm apple tart and the cheese cake? We’ll take two. Hours of Operation: Tue-Fri 11:30 am-7:30pm; Sat 10am-6pm; Sun 10am-5pm.

This authentic family owned French bistro located near DePaul’s campus for over 30 years focuses on making one thing, but what it lacks in selection it makes up for with taste. The crepes at this favorite of neighbors and students alike are authentic “Breton” crepes from Western France and have been perfected over generations of chefs to emerge from this part of the countryside. Be sure to try the Banana Sara, a wheat crepe filled with bananas in a caramelized brown sugar sauce topped with rum and vanilla ice cream for a memorable taste of France. Hours of Operation: Tues-Fri 11:3oam-11pm; Sat 11am-11pm; Sun 11am - 9:30pm; Closed Monday.

While many high quality bakeries will offer dozens of decadent cakes and delectable treats Hooser Mama Pie Company makes one thing, pies, and they make them well. The first bite of the rich thick chocolate cream pie with bananas baked inside covered with chocolate bittersweet curls and banana chips will have you drooling like a St Bernard. The classic apple pie made with real flavorful apples will bring you back to your childhood like Lincoln Logs and Legos. Order these pies online or pick them up at a number of locations around Chicagoland. Hours vary depending on which establishment you choose to “pie-up” at. (go to website for a list of locations).
