This Bucktown boutique is a local favorite, especially if you like to stand out in a crowd. While everyone else is copying the latest Sex in the City trends, the limited edition wares at Tangerine will make sure no one else is sporting your style. If you’re looking for the latest sexpot fashions, you may want to head elsewhere; Tangerine is more about brands like Nanette Lapore and Yanuk. They take their customer service to a new level by offering at home closet and wardrobe consultations. Stop by on the second Tuesday of the month for their wine and shopping events - you may need to imbibe to get over the severe sticker shock. Also look out for the Annual Wicker Park sidewalk sale where you can score big for less. Hours of Operation: Mon-Thu 11am-7pm; Fri-Sat 11-7pm; Sun 12pm-5pm

Looking for head to toe red carpet style? This NYC-based designer destination can satisfy even the most experienced shoppers, especially if labels are your first love. Aptly named, Intermix specializes in mixing and matching favorite brands so if names like Mark, Jimmy, Sergio and Chloe are music to your ears then this is the place to get your fashion groove on. For those who are Stella McCartney obsessed, breathe deep, there’s plenty to go around. Just in case those Giuseppe Zanotti platforms are sold out, there are two other locations on Armitage and Damen. The website is a great resource, listing out fashion by trends and offering fashion addicts the perfect cure to their addiction with their weekly Lust List newsletter. Hours of Operation: Mon-Sat 10am-7pm, Sun 12pm-6pm

Though the Chicago weather caters to these easy, breezy styles only a few months a year, Calypso is a must before embarking on that trip to St. Barts or that cruise to the Greek islands. This ‘ain’t your grandma’s cruise collection either – the earthy fashions are high-end hippie and have the prices to prove it. Influenced by Moroccan and Indian cultures, owner Christiane Celle keeps her resort wear, well…wearable. No neon here, just beautifully beaded and skillfully designed clothes to accentuate that summer glow. She also just launched a home and perfume line so you can bring the islands home without leaving Chicago.Hours of Operation: Mon-Sat 10am-6, Sun 12-6

The only co-op in Chicago, this is the large retail chain’s younger, hipper and less stuffy sibling for those who want cutting edge on the cheap – especially if you consider $150 cheap for sweater. Fashion scavengers can sift through designers like Theory, Prada, Michael Kors and Paul Smith, but you must be willing to endure the spotty service and dig through the overstuffed racks to find your treasure. A word to the wise: beware of defective merchandise, there are hits and misses, but the sure thing is downstairs where they feature Kiehls’ and other offbeat brands of lotions and soaps. Psssst: they get new shipments every Tuesday so plan your outings accordingly, the sweet stuff goes fast! Hours of Operation: Mon-Fri 10am-8pm, Sat 10am-7pm, Sun 11am-6pm

This NYC transplant just hit Chicago in 2008 but we caught on quick! Its 10,000 square foot showroom in Bucktown is the go-to address, especially if your perfect outfit is a Tory Burch caftan, Citizens of Humanity jeans and the latest pair of Jimmy Choos. You’ll pay dearly for the convenient parking lot, however - since you’ll shell out major green for these styles. Head straight to the sale rack to find that hidden jewel before heading out on the town. Though there is only a small selection of men’s wares, they honor them by providing a much-needed waiting area. And if shopping has made you weary, the onsite café, Scoop Café, seats 40 and features yummy sandwiches, salads and desserts – just wait until after you try on those jeans. Hours of Operation: Mon-Sat 11am-7pm, Sun 12pm-6pm

It’s been compared to grown up’s Forever 21 and we tend to agree. However we can’t hate a place that can provide a quick fashion fix. First opened in 2002 in Bucktown as a women’s clothing boutique, they are adding six more stores, a men’s boutique, footwear and accessories and a fancy website. Known for their colorful selection, walls and sales associates, Akira is the perfect quick stop for a quick pair of Frankie B jeans from the denim bar or accessories on the cheap. But hold your spot at happy hour – there are lots of goodies to choose from. Thankfully the store is organized by colors so it’s easy to maneuver. Returning customers use their punch cards to stock up for their next fashion emergency. Mental note: don’t miss the next Akira fashion show where you’ll be rubbing elbows with Chicago’s fashion set.Hours of Operation: Mon-Wed 12pm-9pm, Thu-Sun 11am-9pm
