Image of Early Bird, 5-miles Loop
Why join the early birds? - Starting the day with a good run and you will feel great the rest of the day. Ok, at 3pm, you may have a "down time", but if you stay awake until late this day, you will sleep like a baby! - for those like me who struggle to have a run in your busy life, who want to enjoy the evening time with your significant non-runner other, mornings are the perfect time to get your run, and still spend time to do other things in the evening - Not a morning person? Me neither, or this is what I thought I was. I will rather call it a slight adjustment to your sleep schedule painful at the beginning, piece of cake after few weeks!  Here are the runs details: We are meeting at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center's parking lot around 5:20am to start running sharp at 5:30am. We will run a loop in the Dilworth area. The 3-miles run is pretty flat, while the 5-miles has few hills toward the end (E Morehead St) Tuesdays is a 3 miles run Wednesdays and Fridays is a 5 miles run. We will usually stretch after the runs and wait for everyone to arrive at the MAC. Here are the turn by turn directions, please print and bring them with you in case you are not familiar with the Dilworth-Uptown area. 5-miles loop: Left on E 3rd St Left on S Davidson St Left on E Stonewall St Right on S McDowell St Right on E Morehead St Left on Euclid Ave Left on East Blvd Left on S Kings Dr Left on E Morehead St Right on S McDowell St The Mecklenburg Aquatic Center is located on the right side between Stonewall St and E 2nd St I posted the run map in the files section. Everyone is welcome! Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

  • Image of The Charlotte Progressive Christians Meetup Group/Awakenings November Meetup
Theme: Sacred Space, Sacred Time Menu: Minestrone, Garlic Bread, Simple Salad, Dessert, Beverages. ***** Do you think God is greater than our understanding of God? Are you annoyed by people who try to put God in a box? Have you ever thought during a sermon or worship service, "they call this *good* news?" Are you a bit uncomfortable with folks who are willing to kill for their beliefs but not die for them? Do you believe it would be unwise to share who you really are at church - and do you long for a church where who you really are and what you really think will be welcome? If you find yourself saying yes more than no in response to these questions - Awakenings is for you! Awakenings is a Sunday evening adventure that began October 19, 2008, and features a creative ecumenical worship experience followed by a shared meal and discussion. For more information see the new website - www.awakenonline.info I am a United Methodist pastor of 19 years service. My intention is to start a new church in the Charlotte area for liberal people - a church that welcomes and respects their progressive views.

  • Image of Prenatal/Postpartum Yoga & Beginner Yoga Sunday 4:00 PM @ Breathing Room
Please join us for yoga Sunday afternoon at Breathing Room at 4:00pm. This class is an all-levels prenatal/postpartum practice that also welcomes beginners to yoga taught by certified instructor Joan Wolfe. We hope you enjoy and look forward to your feedback! PLEASE NOTE THIS CLASS IS $10 PER PERSON. If we consistently have enough participants to reduce the price, we'll gladly do so. Beginner, Pre/Post Natal! What does this mean? This Pre/Post Natal class is not only open to expecting moms and new moms, but we also invite our many beginner yogis. We would like to limit this class to WOMEN only. So, men, if you are offended and feel left out, please let me know and we will add a men's only class! What are the benefits? The greatest benefit of yoga, for beginners and pre/post natal moms, is energy. After spending an hour in movement focusing on breath and meditation, most women feel a combination of calm and vigor. For those with child, connecting with your baby through conscious breath work is extremely powerful. By learning to control breathing, expectant mothers can control their birth experience, while mothers with young children can better handle stress, patience and the ability to return to a calm state of mind. This yoga practice will focus on opening hearts and hips. Guided through grounding postures for strength, you will learn to lift your heart in order to create space for both you and your baby. We look forward to seeing you on the mat! If you have questions for Joan, visit her website or email charlotteprenatalyoga@gmail.com. Please note that this class will be held regularly on Sunday afternoons at 4:00 so that you may incorporate this into your weekly routine! Thanks for joining us and please continue to spread the word. Feel free to call 704-965-5668 if you have any questions or have any trouble locating the group.
