Italian-sub lovers, chicken-parm cravers and rib-seekers will have to look elsewhere for their meat fix. Milk Street’s all-natural sandwiches are filled with other options, such as avocados, hummus, Portobello mushrooms and tomatoes with mozzarella. The salads are first-rate, too, and there’s a bright, cheery seating area in which to enjoy your lunch. Open Weekdays 7am-3pm

There’s no fooling around at this all-vegan eatery, which should please even non-vegan and non-vegetarian friends with its inventive and tasty dishes. There are lots of things based in meat substitutes, but plenty of tofu, noodle, rice and veggie-based items on the menu, too. Try the fried spring rolls and the “No Name” special. Open Mon-Thu 11am-10pm; Fri-Sat 11am-11pm; Sun 12pm-10pm
