For those who don’t have the pockets or the pull for a dinner reservation at this Parisian-style bistro, brunch is the answer. The prix fixe brunch--$9.95 for one of three egg dishes, alongside a cinnamon bun, homefries, toast, juice and endless coffee—is perhaps the city’s best steal. You can also nosh on baked mac & cheese, a croque monsieur or good ‘ole eggs benny—try the refreshing ruby red martini. Open Mon-Wed 5:30pm-10pm; Thu-Fri 5:30pm-11pm; Sat 10am-3pm, 5:30pm-11pm; Sun 10am-3pm, 5:30pm-10pm

Unlike some brunch places that pare down their menu to a few flimsy choices, Charley’s has everything: pancakes or French toast, omelettes or frittatas. You also get a free adult bevy—Champagne, mimosa, screwdriver, Campari & OJ or bloody mary—with your meal. And forget the Aunt Jemima; Charley’s serves Vermont maple syrup, no extra charge, at its indoor and outdoor tables. Open Mon-Thu 11:30am-11pm; Fri 11:30am-12am; Sat 11am-12am; Sun 11am-11pm

The only day Ciao Bella opens early is Sunday, for serving up brunch to diners who want the option of rum-glazed French toast and veal piccata on the same menu. Add an unbeatable, not to mention huge, Bloody Mary, and there's quite a lot to make you get out of bed in the morning. Plus, if you sit on the patio, no one will question you for not taking your sunglasses off until after your second cappuccino. Open Mon-Wed,Sun 11:30am-11pm; Thu-Sat 11:30am-11:45pm

Sit outside at Stella, whose al fresco dining area is one of the most spacious in the South End. The Italian eatery serves Sunday brunch from 10 am to 3 pm, whisking out omelettes; bruschetta with smoked salmon and egg salad; and linguini carbonara with a poached egg on top. If it’s too chilly for the patio, ask for a table in the front room. Hours Dinner: 5:30pm-11:00pm Bar: 4:30pm-2:00am Pre-Theater Dinner: 4:30pm-5:30pm Late Night Dining: 11:00pm-1:30am Sunday Brunch: 10am-3:00pm

This place is white-linen without being pretentious. It's nice--very nice, in fact, but you can make yourself at home on the bustling Boylston St. patio during warm weather or cozy up to the bar when it's cold. Plus, when it's a favorite hangout for other restaurant staff around the city, you know it's good. Open Mon-Thu,Sun 11:30am-11pm; Sat 11:30am-12am
