The best sports bar in Baton Rouge. Everyone knows LSU has crazy fans and the fans are what makes The Varsity number one. A very popular night spot right near the North Gates of LSU and just a short walk from the stadium. For football and other big games they'll put up a big screen and let everyone come in to watch. It's connected to The Chimes and on game days it turns into a very rowdy and exciting place. The "Golden Band from Tigerland" plays over the speakers as you watch the game. You might get confused and think you are actually sitting in "Death Valley" Pretty cool. Mon-Sat 11am-2am; Sun 11am-12am

It can get a little busy sometimes, so be prepared to wait a minute or two for a table to open up, but it's always worth it. The prices aren't too steep, and the wait-staff are incredibly attentive and nice. Sammy's has an amazing cajun brunch on Sunday's but you can get an impeccable bloody mary any day of the week. Mon-Sun 11am-9pm

The best live music venue in Baton Rouge! This place is a great place to catch a band. They employ a wide variety of musical acts. It's the perfect size place to see a band and has 3 floor levels and a balcony for better viewing. Very professionally run! The best live music venue in Baton Rouge. Next door to the Chimes and just outside the gates of LSU.

A Baton Rouge favorite. You will think you have died and gone to southern food heaven. The location might throw you being it's located in a strip mall but don't let that fool you. Once inside, you forget about it though. Try out the "Bayou Pearls"....sort of like crabcakes but less bread and scrumptious. Juban's is an amazing experience but be prepared to spend about $40-$60 for entree and drink. Alcohol will probably raise the bar on that a bit but who cares splurge a little and enjoy your amazing meal! Mon-Sat 6pm-10pm

Cane's is by far the best late night food place. Started by students that attended LSU Rasing Cane's will forever be a Baton Rouge favorite. It's the sauce that makes it good. And the fresh chicken marinated for hours before a batter and hot oil bath. And the lemonade -- fresh squeezed and avaialable only during lemon season. For chicken fingers, Raising Cane's is Baton Rouges one love. The people running it are cool, too and actually know the definition of customer service. Wed-Sat 10:30am-3am, Sun-Tues 10:30am-12am
