Having fully recovered from a life-threatening illness in the 1980s that caused him to forget how to play the guitar and to relearn it by listening to his own 1960s recordings, Martino has re-emerged as a veteran presence on the jazz scene. His playing is as fiery and technically brilliant as ever and he constantly challenges himself with new music and exciting younger bandmates.

'The Piano Men' is an acclaimed musical journey through the 1970s that showcases the songs of legendary performers Billy Joel and Elton John. Multi-talented entertainer Jim Witter is featured on the piano and lead vocals, along with his band, which includes guitar, bass, flute, sax, electric keyboard and drum backup. Witter does not attempt to mimic Billy Joel or Elton John, but instead relies on familiar arrangements and his versatile singing voice to evoke their music. With the addition of a rear-projected screen, the audience is further transported back to the 1970s via newsreels, newspaper headlines and other hallmarks of the era.
