This is the newest location of Geckos, in the Northeast Heights area of Albuquerque. You can count on the same fabulous Spanish tapas as the original location. If you are a hummus fan, get some here, it is the best Sneaky Sunday has ever had! Check out the unusual appetizers such as masa fried squid and chipotle wings. They serve homemade soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches, customizable with many add on options. With 14 lagers and ales, 30 bottled beers, around 15 varieties of wine by the glass and every top shelf brand of spirits, you’ll be happy. The major difference between the two locations is size, this one is the larger of the two with perhaps less of the street scene but more room to spread out, especially on the patio which is pet friendly. Geckos is the spot for tapas in Albuquerque. It is tiny, though, both indoors and outside on the street patio, so if you see an empty table, dart gecko like and grab it! A crazy popular place because not only does it serve tempting tapas such as red mole grilled sirloin tacos, sage hummus with lemon and flatbread (so good that they sell out of it regularly) but also homemade soup, luscious crisp salads, along with burgers and sandwiches with a huge and yummy variety of add on options. Geckos offers 14 types of ales and lagers, 30 different bottled beers, about 15 wines by the glass and also all the top shelf brand name spirits for that favorite cocktail. There’s decent recorded music playing inside and out, sometimes a DJ spinning it. You should arrive early and stay late as the vibe here is super friendly, funky and fun!
