The people watching rates way better than any reality show – a real slice of Americana will pass your way if you stay long enough! And stay you may as the menu will tempt with all the delicious Italian food choices – superb appetizers and full menu at the outdoor bar too! - Cool off in Albuquerque’s North Valley – it’s overgrown with ancient cottonwoods, lush with family garden plots and home to a sweet little hide-a-way outdoor dining joy, Johndhi’s! Their menu ranges from barbeque (a Sneaky Sunday favorite) to Greek! (a family enterprise proud of their heritage) Salads, burgers, green chile stew - all as memorable as the atmosphere! The campus of UNM is blocks away from this New Mexican patio which makes it popular with all types – especially those seeking a laid back, ready to relax, outdoor ambience! New Mexican cuisine translates into sopapillas, chile relleno, burritos, enchiladas, and so on, but the sneaky part is the chile – red or green – mild, or tears in your eyes hot, it’s usually served smothering everything on your plate - just got to give it a try! If you’re a chile virgin ask for it on the side! Hours – Mon-Sat 11-9:30 pm Sun noon-9 pm

Ranks high with Sneaky Sunday as Whisque is situated on Albuquerque’s West Mesa, affording the sneaky with a view of the Sandia Mountain Range to the east that will purple with the setting sun as this spread out desert town begins to twinkle! 2800 sq ft of luxurious lounging about and a crushed glass fireplace when the heat of the day is replaced by evening’s high desert chill! The classic American menu is tailored to feature fine grilled fare, prime meats and seafood, so the choices are not extensive but exquisitely prepared. If you’re here for the outdoor experience you’ll be gazing at the gorgeous scenery and the food served will enhance the evening! Hours – Sun-Wed, 4-10pm Thurs 4-11pm Fri-Sat 4-midnight

Since 1962 this New Mexican family has been welcoming visitors to its hacienda! A very sneaky choice for outdoor dining in Albuquerque’s North Valley verdant lushness! The garden style patios are arranged just as a typical hacienda would be, strewn with unstructured flowering plants, rock formations and fountains – graciously beckoning you with it’s time honored New Mexican cultural past – as well as present – the grandsons have stepped in to run the place and they do it well! They have managed to stay true to their values and traditions. Voted “Best Nachos in America” by the premier business journal in the U.S. and frequented by such guests as Mick himself after a concert stop a few years back – if it’s good enough for a rock star, it’s good enough for you! Hours – Mon-Thurs 11-9pm Fri-Sat 11-10pm Sun 10:30-9pm
