This is the original Flying Star, which is on Central, Route 66, in Nob Hill and it remains the sneakiest of the eight locations scattered around town! The husband/wife owner/operators focus on serving food made with ingredients produced locally, organically and humanely. Breakfast is served all day! Order anything that has their green chile turkey sausage in it! The Machacado is a breakfast casserole that oozes gooey cheddar, chile, chunky turkey sausage, sizzling bacon and black beans – something healthy would be the Morning Sundae - homemade granola tops fruit and yogurt! Of course you can have your eggs any way you like with any sides you need! Coffee is brewed with beans roasted that morning! Wi-fi and an entire wall of every magazine fit for the general public eye to see! Hours – Sun-Thurs 6am-11:30pm Fri-Sat, 6am-midnight

The motto here is “A Full Belly Tradition” so loosen your belt and forget about your waistline! Specializing in oversized omelettes and “papas” (mountains of hash browns covered with red/green chile, cheddar and jack cheese, eggs and tortilla) with many meats and veggies to customize your developing meal into something “belly bustin” as promised! You could order something healthy, but people would stare! With seven locations around town you can roll out of bed and find yourself near to a belly full of breakfast faster than a roadrunner after a lizard! Hours – Daily 6:30am-2pm

Stretching an entire city block, directly across the street from the University of New Mexico campus, this is the place you want to be late night Albuquerque. Whether you’re just looking for a cup of coffee and one of their famous Frontier cinnamon rolls or if you have in mind an all out gathering together of friends for a ” food fest after party” of sorts, you’ll be in the right place. A kaleidoscope of characters continually stream through, running the gamut of currently campaigning presidential candidates, to regulars such as university professors as well as students, and of course, the late night bar crowd. If you happen to fall in love with their green chile stew, tortillas (they hold a patent for a fascinating machine which is constantly rolling out fresh tortillas), cinnamon rolls, or other homemade items, -good news – you can arrange with the UPS store next door to ship an order anywhere you choose!

Located in Nob Hill, if you are looking for familiar breakfast foods, the ones you crave, the ones imbedded in your DNA, the ones you feel slightly guilty about, (unlimited amounts of cholesterol, sodium and saturated fats) then eat at Mannie’s! You’re going to get huge portions of decent quality, “no surprises” type food, served up by happy staff and, a sneaky plus, value priced! Populated by UNM students, their profs and families alike this spot will fill your needs by filling you up with just what you had in mind! Hours – Daily 6am-9pm

Just south of downtown, in the historic Route 66 location, Barelas Coffee House is a popular destination for travelers and regulars alike. With red&green Chilli based breakfast and lunch items and fresh organic New Mexico Coffee, this is the place to experience authentic New Mexico culture.

The local owner/operator partners now have three locations, two in town, and the original in neighboring Bernalillo. With a fire destroying their first place, they faced the difficulties of re-building, but not without the help of their faithful patrons who helped to inspire them to get back to cooking up all that makes The Range so right! So the attitude around the café is – come on in and get comfortable, it’s a friendly, hungry vibe! Breakfast favors the southwest diet, loads of chile (red/green or both) covering burritos and omelettes, pinto beans abound. All day Huevos Rancheros! Eggs any way and a long list of sides. Waffles and hotcakes, biscuits and gravy, even oatmeal made sneaky with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream up top. Hours – Daily 7am-9pm

This great breakfast place is located in north east Albuquerque and like their other two locations can not be beat for breakfast. The Range Cafés have a cult like following of regulars who simply won’t settle for anything but what The Range has to offer! Comfy, homey, happy, friendly surroundings and breakfast to satisfy you whether you need piles of bacon with your eggs or you’re into vegetarian meals. Feel the heat come on early in your morning with chile smothering your eggs. Expect the kind of coffee that this regular crowd prefers, the best and lots of it! Hours – Daily – 7am-9pm
